do I have to watch the first one?

Because this one is the only one on hulu so I was wondering if I would miss anything by skipping the first.

There's no continuity here. However, it recycles the plot of the 1st movie (with different characters and settings), so you should watch it anyway to compare. Then you would have to watch the 3rd movie because that one does follow up the 1st one.
