A decent creepy-crawly thriller from France

If you are afraid of spiders, check this out for a scary time.

I mostly liked this movie, it's got a lot of formula ingredients: strained friendship, fractured family history, a community of neighbors in a downscale apartment building.

The spiders are creepy. The CGI is decent. At some point this devolves into "how do we outrun the monster(s)" kind of adventure, but it mostly works. The claustrophobia aided anxiety fuels the film to its end.

There are some questionable antics near the end, like why would they do... okay whatever, just enjoy the ride.

My high school level French did not help me much here, I couldn't tell if they were speaking a dialect heavily peppered with North African influenced flavor or if they were just using very slangy French. Anyway, you will need subtitles, but don't look away too long and miss the spiders.
