It wasn't obviously Ben Stiller, a lot of people thought it was Tom Cruise including famous people who know both Tom and Ben. It might of been obvious to you but I thought it was Tom Cruise as well and it looks more like Tom Cruise than Ben Stiller in my humble opinion.

absolutely the same here!!
i mean, i knew from the context it was supposed to be a Stiller "clone", but i swear i just couldn't get the idea out of my head that they somehow had Cruise to play a cameo!!

So Stiller dressed all up as a neanderthal looks exactly like Tom Cruise... that's funny as sh!t!! lol

I totally agree with this. We just watched it and I had this discussion with the hubby. He says it was totally Stiller. We didn't see it in the theater, obviously. There are a few instances where Ben/Laaa are in the same scene and it is obvious that there is some green screen stuff going on - especially the scene in the breakroom where Laaa is getting a jolt from the microwave. When they sit down at the table, it's easy to see in at least 3 places in the center where the screen can be spliced and diced. But yeah, it would be even funnier if it was TC!

I was struck by the TC resemblance too. Given that Stiller has said that he copied TC's running for the series, I suspect this is all an in joke and deliberate. I won't hold my breath waiting for word from Stiller on this topic tho, given the controversy when Bonham Carter joked that she looked like Janet Jackson while in make up for Planet of the Apes.

It did look a heck lot like him in some scenes/angles. However I rationalise that Mr. Super star Tom Cruise wouldn't even bother to appear in such a small, weird, non speaking role.

IF it was directed by Stiller, maybe.
