Are The Affair, The Leftovers and Bloodline the most underrated TV Shows?

I think Batel Motel is the most underrated show on TV right now.

I think so! All these shows have fantastic character development and the actors are so freaking talented. The Leftovers in particular is just brilliant.

And the other similarity among them all is that they really delve into the shadow side of the characters in a very real, albeit very dramatic, way.

These shows also feel pretty contained - like there are planned number of acts and arcs to the stories and that when they are done we will feel really satisfied. I will miss them so much when they eventually come to an end, but the story and characters drive the narrative so I don't see them hanging on way past their due just for pure entertainment's sake.

I love Bates Motel too, as the other respondent suggested, but that is REALLY delving into Norman Bates' shadow side! LOL

A fan of any less popular TV show can say the same about a show they like. Let's just enjoy the stuff we enjoy without caring whether other people like it or not.

The three shows you mentioned are mind bogglingly underrated and overlooked.
Also add to this list the new Cinemax show Quarry.
If you haven't seen Quarry, then you're missing the best new show of the fall season thus far.

Justin Theroux from The Leftovers gave the best lead male performance of any actor last year.

I just started S2 of Bloodline and I'm still impressed. Loved Ben Mendelssohn in S1.

Probably "Shameless"..It's on it's 7th(!!!) season and still doesnt get the attention it deserves

Sorry, Masters of Sex is the most underated show ever made on TV. Nobody even talks about it. I sometimes wonder if anybody have heard of the show.

Yes. Love all three. Leftovers in particular is really overlooked. At least the other two have gotten awards.
