THAT ISN'T YOUR BABY! Wth?

Just...Why put that lady in the story? "That isn't your baby!" So? Both biological parents are gone...Why did Lindelof write this? It makes no sense to me...

Is it just pointless, like the broken pencil?

I don't think Nora would have crossed the bridge with Lily because of the potential bomb threat. The woman taking Lily gets both Nora and Lily across the bridge. I don't think there's anything more to it than that.

Just so we can have brave Tom "saving" her from getting run over by a stampede even though it was actually about 50 drunk rednecks that barely moved on a pretty wide bridge.

To the OP's point - yeah I think it was just to motivate Nora to cross the bridge

reply

How did she not crossed the bridge when she ended back in her house in town?

She was trying to get Matt and Mary back to her car when the riot started. She was planning to get the hell out of Jarden until Lily got snatched.

She was planning to get the hell out of Jarden unitl Lily got snatched.

Nora had no intention of leaving Jarden without her entire family.

Ignoring that she already ditched Kevin & Jill until Kevin fixes his crazy...

She tells Matt and Mary something like 'my car is right over here, lets get out of here...'

I never said she would never return, but she clearly wanted to get out of the middle of the riot.

Point being, she was not going to cross that bridge until she had to save Lily.

Granted, a lot of the people outside the bridge are crazy which could account for that chick being mad for whatever reason that it wasn't Nora's baby. I do think they could have added some additional dialogue though, like Nora saying sarcastically 'ummm yes, have you heard of adoption?'

The lady could still have been crazy and stolen the baby, but to have Nora just ignore it was kinda weak.

Nora actually shouted at the meth lady, I actually find her awesome (Nora)

It also reinforces the scene where Nora is changing Lily's diapers and listening to the radio.... the host is saying that people can't replace their departed children with a new child. Nora's reaction is to smash the radio. She's obviously questioning her own motives for adopting Lily. And, later, when the nut job tells her that isn't her baby... she initially looks shocked. But then when Lily is taken... Nora reacts with the fierceness that any Mother would... she fights the crowd to get her child back. Nora is seriously one of my favorite characters in this show... and Carrie Coon deserves an Emmy

I agree that Norma is awesome.

Indeed. I didn't really care for the first season but I'm really happy that I stuck with it. Good stuff.

Nora was intrigued when the speaker said you can't replace a lost baby with another baby and was curious what he would say next, what got her angry was when he said the answer was Jesus, and she was like, "Hello no"!

reply

I had to laugh when she smashed the radio and said "FIX THAT JESUS!"

reply

Yes and then the whole house and town shook immediately. A funny response to her challenge.

Very well put.

1. I saw that as the throwback to the cavewoman picking up the dead cavewoman's child as her own.

2. There was like some sort of forcefield around Lily until Nora showed up, you see these people like not nearly touching her, so perhaps to show she's chosen.

3. It was all pointless anyway. And I still can't come to terms with that.

AFTEC is all over the place 10/15, yada yada, just huge buildup of characters leading to anarchy (big deal), yet the anarchy hasn't spread to the burbs? Tower man is irrelevant? Screw them. I don't need all the answers but I'd like a couple.

Remember strange opening sequence from S2E01, a woman took a baby from another woman. Authors said that sequence is connected through all season. So that's the one of the ways.

reply

This woman is attributed the name "Snake woman" in the credits.

She is called this because she has a snake tattoo.

She represents the snake that bites the woman in the tribe in S2E01.

Nora lies down on the bridge when protecting the baby in the stampede, in a pose similar to the woman in the tribe, who dies from the snake bite while holding the baby and lieing down.

There are multiple interpretations of this. That initial scene with the cave tribe also has mirrored parallels to the very last scene of S2E10, when the earthquake happens and Kevin returns to his 'tribe' of family and friends unhurt, after coming back from death.

Both Nora and Kevin undo the death of the tribe woman. Nora reverses the part of the story where she is bit by a snake and loses the baby. Kevin undoes the part where the tribe woman dies, and the part where the cave collapses from the earthquake and the tribe is separated.

reply

I love it except I believe Tom represents the second cavewoman. He rescues Lily again and brings her to "his" tribe. Meg convinced him family was everything.
That is why he is holding her and not Nora.
