Just watched the first episode of Impeachment. I noticed Paul Jones filed her lawsuit against Bill Clinton in 1994, around the same time the OJ Simpson case would have played out. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if the media coverage of OJ trial was a diversion to take attention away from the Clinton lawsuit to prevent it from becoming a big deal and protect the President’s image.

We have to remember that this was back when corporate media still made at least some effort to be objective and just report the news for profit rather than shill for the DNC. They were all over BOTH Clinton and OJ and the public ate it all up.
The real question, for me, is how would the press approach the Clinton story if it happened today? No doubt the response would be different. I can't believe they would be the attack dogs in 2021 that they were in the mid-90s if Clinton were president now and did what he did.
Today they would only go after a Republican president like that.

shareIndeed. If it happened today they would talk about it as little as possible, and when they did cover it it would be from the angle that this is a private matter and has nothing to do with his official duties as President.
In the 90s many Americans still wanted their political leaders to be moral individuals. Today I'm not sure how many still give a shit about that.
They tried to cover it up in the 90's. As they will no doubt show later, the guy from Newsweek had the story nailed down and sourced properly, but his bosses refused to run it, claiming it would hurt the president. Everyone other mainstream news source also turned it down. It took a small, little used website, at a time when the internet was no where near what it would become for the story to get out.
