Motif of Refraction/reflection

I loved how they kept up with the refraction/reflection references from the very beginning. It was no surprise to me when the physicist discovered that that was what the shimmer was composed of, as it was a word that popped into my mind with a number of scenes.

- water in the glass with Kane and Lena's hands
- the distorted plastic that isolated Kane when he was sick
- the numerous rainbows within the shimmer
- water reflecting images of the trees in the swamp
- glass trees in the desert

What are some more that I'm forgetting?

It may also be worth looking into how the narrative uses refraction and reflection differently, especially in regards to the mirrored clone scene in the light house. The clones are empty, self-preserved reflections of their source while the refraction involves the scrambling of physical particles.

For humans to even be cloned in the shimmer they have to mentally hold themselves together long enough to reach the lighthouse. Even Antress went crazy too soon, as she gave in once she got there. It's interesting that Lena and Kane were both able to do so, maybe because they were both the only ones in their team who had something to come home to. Ultimately the shimmer was able to continue on through their reflections, but in a more stable way in Earth's normal atmosphere. I'm sure whatever children they had would be extremely mutated though, maybe even bringing back the refractive elements of the shimmer.
