First of all, I really enjoyed this mini series. Early on and throughout they brought up that things can't be changed in the past. Chris Cooper's character and the yellow card guy said that no matter how many times they tried they couldn't change what they were trying to change. Jake, however, easily (with a little bit of pull back) saved that family and the president, and then the yellow card guy comes back to tell him he can't save Sadie. I say *beep* He's already proven both of your theories wrong and can save her and live a good life with four kids. The end.

Al (Chris Cooper) never said you can't change the past. He said it gets harder as you get close to changing the past, especially if it's a big change, because the past pushes against you. The whole reason he convinces Jake to go back is to change the past and save Kennedy. He wouldn't have done that if he believed it couldn't be done.
