What happened to his Mustang?

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but what the hell happened to his Mustang? He never even bothers to find it after Theon took off with it from that shop.

I thought they did a decent job of demonstrating throughout the movie that he didn't really care about the car.

He knew he could replace the car... he couldn't replace the dog and what it represented.

reply

He knew he could replace the car.

That was a 1969 Boss 429, i.e., a very rare car and hardly replaceable.

reply

But not irreplaceable. It's an object, not another living thing.

reply

It was a chop shop. That car, in it's current form, failed to exist within an hour or less.

reply

Iosef wasn't going there to have it sold/broken down, he went there to keep it for himself.

reply

exactly, the request was a new VIN so that it could be kept

not only that but the chop shop owner refused to take it because he recognized who it belonged to

reply

Theon took it to fight the white walkers

reply

I like to think it will magically return in the sequel.

reply

Yeah, I was wondering that towards the end of the movie. It kind of bugs me that he never gets his Boss 429 back. The way it was portrayed, the car was a part of the character--an extension of himself, so it just seemed odd and out of place that he never got it back in the end. The final scene should have been him driving off in his Boss with his new dog in the passenger seat. Literally the only way you could have ended this film. They just left that storyline incomplete for no reason.

reply

Where'd you get that? The car was just a thing he liked. He didn't want to sell it but I don't see how a thing on screen for maybe three minutes could be an "extension" of him. All that really showed was that he didn't want to part with it for money.

reply

The letter from Bridgit Moynahan said "something... someone to love and no, the car doesn't count" so there was obviously a very strong connection to the car, probably the #2 thing in his life after his wife.

reply

Yes, I remember that line but I think it was more of a joke. Like how people joke about how their longest relationship is to their car or to alcohol or something. The car being an "extension" of the character is absurd, the car is just a thing he drives around in.

reply

They say it's a 1969 Boss 429, but it's actually a 69 Mach 1 probably with a 428 cobra jet under the hood. Still a beautiful car but far cry from a Boss '9.

reply

Cheaper to destroy a later model prop than to build a prop of that car just to be destroyed.

And like others have said, it was just a car.

reply

he either finds it after this film or he buys another but it's in the trailer for jw2... or at least a similar mustang is.

reply

it will probably be explained in the two minutes of plot that open the second movie and than dive right back into the action

reply

The car makes its return in John Wick: Chapter 2!! ;)

reply

Now we know. As such, I like that the first thing he does in the sequel is retrieve it from the Russians. Of course! But what happened to it in the process was, well, not the easiest thing to watch. Heh. But you know Aurelio is getting that baby back in tip-top shape!

Since a third film is on the way, I would love to see the car used in more of the action (and can somehow avoid damage!). Update: next time!

Do they resurrect the puppy too? On second thought, dont spoil.
