Several things that made no sense in this film

1) This is in the middle of the violence epidemic in NYC. So why are the police acting like a few gunshots where no one got hurt is the crime of the century?

2) Their brilliant hiding place for their dirty books is underneath the deck?

3) You're going to hijack a truck on the approach to the 59th St Bridge? And then what, sit in traffic while the cops come for you?

reply

1 - not the crime of the century at all, just enough to pin on Abel

2 - what she told him outside made him think twice

3 - they weren't expecting any defense, nobody's gonna call the cops

reply

Regarding number three: Maybe but if I was truck jacking, I wouldn't risk jail when you could easily do it a MUCH less risky location. It was just a stupid plot device.

2) Search warrants have to be very specific. It's possible the search warrant applied only to the house itself but not to anything outside.

You know, on number 2) I completely agree. It's just ridiculous that noone noticed a huge isle of boxes right underneath his terrace. It's just laughable. I think pretty much that's the only significant plot hole in the movie.
I don't know about number 3) (I don't live in New York), but regarding your first point, it's not that just that the cops are overreacting. Julian along with everybody else (the bank, Abel) are freaking out for no good reason. I mean I don't get why Julian had to kill himself. Surely at most he would do a few months in jail for having an unlicensed gun?

"noone" is not a word.

Maybe traffic was less brutal in '81. Besides, no cellphones so it takes a little while before the cops show up.
