Great survival movie. Any others?

My favorite type of movies are survival movies, sometimes with limited characters.
This movie was very well made.
Any other movies you guys could recommend like this?
What is the best bear horror movie?

7.5/10

There are several on that list that make no sense at all. There is quite literally no connection to Martyrs or I Spit On Your Grave, even thematically. I understand suggesting them as decent films, but they aren't even a little bit Survival Horror.

Frozen
127 Hours
The Grey
Cast Away is iffy, but yeah.

Others:
Exists
The Canyon
Open Water
The Reef
Bear

watched it twice, so that means it was pretty darn good in my book. thought the directing and acting was well done and natural.
other similar:
frozen ( mentioned pp)
black water
the reef

I'm gonna watch it again, as well as some of the recommendations here such as Black Water and Turistas. Seen all the others and my top 5 of the genre would be Exists, Grey, Eden Lake, The Edge and this one.

eta: bear attack scene, although well directed & acted, is brutal. geesh.
man, felt bad for lead as it was
happening :/ had to look away few times.

eta: another similar
-the canyon

Op, The Ghost and the Darkness, a true story.

Some of those mentioned I don't really consider "survival stories." But if you're looking for man vs. wild animals, there's Rogue, Exists, The Jungle, Anaconda, Life of Pi, Burning Bright, and The Edge. If it's man vs. nature in general, there's The Way Back, Centurion, Walkabout, Rabbit-Proof Fence...basically any film from Australia.

The Edge
The Hunted
The Breed
The Ruins
The Cave
The River Wild
Turistas
A Lonely Place To Die

The Edge, The Grey, and The Way Back all come to mind. And there's also a book by Stephen King called The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

The movie ALIVE with ethan hawk is really good survival movie

I wasn't a huge fan of this one. I thought the "hey I'm a creepy forest guy" was silly and overplayed. It was alright. It had a lot of faults but it's heart was in the right place. I will say other that actual real documentary Grizzly Man this is the only decent bear horror film in this century. I seem to recall an older 70-80s movie that was very similar Jaws but with a Bear.

So far while I haven't seen a ton survival movies I think "All is lost" is probably the best one I've ever seen and I'm surprised no one listed already. Scary very realistic and essentially inspired by several real events that have happened to people.

No one listed "All Is Lost" because that movie was absolute crap. I watched it online for free and I wanted a refund!!! You were 'scared' in that movie? haha...that's more funny than the boringness of the whole movie itself...thanks for the laugh... You said "Scary very realisitic" - I think you meant to say, "Boring, Super Gay..." BTW, I like Robert Redford, but All Is Lost is just retarded...

reply

scuzzynutty hits hard with the burns! 'Boring Super Gay'??? Classic bants there. A whirlwind comment that I'll get engraved on all of our tombstones as we die happy.
