Sounds good

I like the premise. I will keep an eye on this.

A bit slow in places, but watchable if you are bored

I didn't think it was very good. Long, slow build to a really mediocre climax. Check out Touching the Void instead, awesome survival movie (docu-drama).

If you want an action movie, this is not that. This is a slightly more realistic, subdued thriller about a hiking trip gone terribly awry. Compared to the recent James Marsden movie Grizzly, it's definitely "quieter" and slower in pace. Jaws and the aforementioned bear movie Grizzly are movies where the beast is no longer a beast but some kind of preternatural killer that stalks its prey in the most unrealistic ways. Backcountry is literally about a couple that happens to cross paths with a dangerous bear - that's it. No Hollywood style cat-and-mouse game. I wouldn't discount it, though, as it has absolutely beautiful scenery shots and cinematography (the part where Missy holds the lit flare in the darkness was gorgeous). Not the most memorable, but far from being the worst.
