Anyone else impressed by the use of the song "Anthonio" by Annie here?

The use of the song has reminded me strongly of how David Lynch used Julee Cruise in some of his movies like "Blue Velvet" (1986) and "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" (1992) (remember when Julee Cruise sang "Questions in a World of Blue" in that film?) and even how directors like Michael Mann use music including songs and composed musical pieces by bands like Tangerine Dream and artists like Terje Rypdol (pronounced "Ter-ay Rip-doll") in films like "Heat" (1995) and "The Keep" (1983) etc.

And the song itself sounds like a modern cross-over or even an amalgamation of Cocteau Twins, Julee Cruise, Kate Bush and Tangerine Dream.

I wonder if director Adam Wingard has also seen those movies and witnessed how a soothing downtempo dream pop song can be used and liven the picture as it really worked here too.

And the song itself is very good as well.

Any thoughts, thanks.

And RIP to both Julee Cruise and Angelo Badalamenti, both of whom passed away last year.

I don't have an in depth analysis or anything but yea, great sequence and great song..it has that enchanting feel to it.

True, on its own basic level its nice and all.

But having seen those other films, and I bet Adam Wingard did as well, I couldn't help but draw comparisons, and the song itself does have that, perhaps not too unique or original, but well organized style to it that brings back those memories as well.

Best part of the movie. Made the scene really atmospheric.
