I can see why the original Jeff did not appear now

He read the script.

That was one heck of a bad episode.

While I liked the episode, it left me wondering why we need this with a few left?

I think it has been explained. Jimmy can't and won't change no matter how dangerous a game he is playing. He could have went to the vacuum salesman after those two guys recognized him in season 5, but he chose not to. He chose to continue to be Gene. And now Gene is doing all the shifty things Jimmy/Saul once did. He likes living on the edge.

It's a setup episode for the last 3 episodes. TV shows do this all the time and it'll all make sense in the next 3 weeks. Vince Gilligan is great at things like this.

I wondered why the head security guy didn't sit facing the cameras so he could at least glance at the feeds every few mouthfuls of that confectionery goodness lol. Wouldn't that make sense?

reply

Exactly. Contrived as heck.

reply

hhhave you ever met a security guard???

reply

Plenty. I worked private security in Philippines for a couple years before returning to NY to start my own business. However, I've never met a TV show writer or director so there is that.

reply

Then I guess you're lucky to have only met the best security guards. That'll be good for your business instead of the typical people I've seen in my own work.

I enjoy the show but am more interested in what he will do in his B&W Gene life at this point.

This episode was not worthless. The taxi guy was a threat to his identity. This fixed that AND Saul gets to plan a scam again. I have grown tired of the main plot line now that Kim is gone and Lalo is dead. No other thread has hooks. Everything but the incomplete lab can easily connect to the start of BB.

OK, OK ... maybe I'd like to see the girl he claims he never touched when they take the bag off his head.

reply

Even BB had a couple filler-episodes. Not that the excuses it, but I do think the showrunners need to buy some time on occasion.
