The fact that David Brent is in his mid 50s here really makes the character come off as being more dignified....
To me, this is the reason why this movie didn't work. The fact that he was in his mid 50s in this movie really made him come off as being a quirky and lovable uncle, not the personification of an inferiority complex (which made the show's depiction of Brent so hilarious yet sad). The fact that Brent comes off as being way different here is really what made me dislike this movie.
