I have to applaud the Turks

Turkey knows how to make some excellent TV. Calikusu is a joy to watch. The look of it with the colorful sets and costumes, the acting, and the theme music are all quality. There are plot twists and turns a plenty. I feel like I'm living in that house right along with the characters! It is one of those shows that bores itself into your psyche and won't let you go. I hate Netflix right now for taking it away.

If I had to complain about it I would say two things. First, the love story between Kamran and Feride was drawn out very long, but that was a device to keep the audience watching I'm thinking. Also, it could be based on the events of the 1922 novel Calikusu which is my next read, so I will soon know. Second, the show was cancelled right in the middle so a proper conclusion wasn't shown much to fans' ire. That makes my first complaint even more frustrating. We didn't get to see these two properly together. I guess it just shows the path to true love never does run quickly nor smoothly if it runs at all.

A streaming channel needs to pick it up or a DVD with English subtitles needs to be released. It's too good a show to be lost to oblivion.

Standing ovation for Turkish television!
