Dumbest character in fiction.

Why does anyone like that stupid dog?

reply

I agree, I've known cartoon series that I enjoy immensely, and Scooby-Doo is NOT one of them.

I look at those characters, and I'm reminded of the 1960s hippie culture, especially Shaggy, who was most likely stoned constantly in his youth and was at Woodstock, which probably explains his and his pet dog's constant desire for the munchies. The main character appears to be the dog, but I don't see why he should be more apparently revered than Snoopy or Garfield. His enthusiastically pugilistic nephew is easily the WORST ever addition to a show's cast.

Even the main trope of the crew of the Mystery Machine ("I would've gotten away with it, if it weren't for those pesky kids") is also overused, although later cartoons had them going up against real monsters, which was a nice change.

But all in all, I don't really care for the characters in Scooby-Doo.
