Confusing that THIS movie embraces the supernatural

Although Scooby-Doo has traditionally dealt with 'guys in masks', during the original HB years the Scooby gang did occasionally encounter the real supernatural. When WB took over the IP the supernatural started to feature more heavily. But in recent years WB have back-pedalled on that, to the point where their recent sequel movies Curse of the 13th Ghost and Return to Zombie Island (both 2019) even tried to retcon the genuine supernatural out of HB's TV show The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo (1985) and WB's own movie Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998). If - as seems to be the case - WB have made a policy decision, 'No real supernatural in Scooby-Doo!', fair enough. But then why feature it so heavily in this, the biggest budget Scooby animation yet?

Frankly I refused to see the 13 Ghosts sequel since Scrappy wasn't in it. Also, I can't blame them for making monsters real in some series and movies since the premise of it just being a man or woman in a Mask gets old after awhile.
