The real killer, explained.

It was the mother.

The first time I realized the movie was written with the mother as an alternative killer, was when the detective said her cooking smelled good, and she said she was cooking crabs. Then he asked if it was the spicy style. She said yes.

This was a clue, that despite her daughters or step-daughters just being tortured and murdered, she didn't care. She wasn't sad, on the contrary she was just fine, cooking a nice spicy recipe.

After that, she is showing the detectives something that would implicate her husband, throwing them off her scent. Later, when she was telling the detective what Marina told her, but said Marina couldn't tell him herself? How convenient. But this time she was implicating Quini.

She was the one taking the photos, she knew all about the lodge, because it was where Quini used to take her. That's her real motive; seething envy of a woman scorned.

Everyone else lied to protect the mother. The caretaker who lied and said Antonio was 'Sebastian', the photographer who lied and said Quini bought the film, hey were all protecting the mother. We even saw the lady in the cap, that was her.

The guy who shot 2 police officers at the end and was dragging one of them away, was just an innocent bystander?

reply

Yep, he was totally innocent. And the mother is the killer as she was cooking spicy crabs for dinner, not normal crabs. Ha ha!

reply

Her partner, or 'patsy' as it were.

Yeah...no.

she didn't know her daughters had been murdered at that point.

what do you mean? we actually see the scene when marina is not able to tell the police officers the truth.

reply

she didn't know her daughters had been murdered at that point.

She did, since she was the one responsible.

If she was innocent, and they were still missing, the last thing on her mind would be making a nice delicious meal.

So you have no idea how people react in tragic situations. Some people breakdown and some through themselves in routines like house work to distract themselves from reality.

some through themselves

ahahahahahahah, alright Sherlock, that's a great clue...
I seriously hope you don't work as a homicide detective anywhere in the world. 'cause that would be really scary...

reply

That was the first and best clue; people in mourning act a certain way, Watson.

Yeah sure...the day after my beloved grandpa died I cooked a nice lasagna. I guess that can only mean I killed him...

reply

Dead grandpa doesn't equal dead daughters, if you understood that you would already understand the point.

yeah 'cause dead daughters, actually at that point they were only 2 girls that wanted to leave the village, missing, usually means that you're going to starve yourself and your husband to death, no exceptions...
kid, you're boring, just leave it. think what you want, I don't give a *beep*

reply

Actually two missing daughters is even worse, much worse, no innocent parent is going to be focused on a complicated recipe or making a fancy dinner a priority.

my dear friend, this is a big misunderstanding. crabs are very typical and found in great amounts in the guadalquivir delta, which is where the movie takes place. even more so, a fisherman, like the husband, has easy access to them. it is NOT a fancy food in those area...and, as far to what you called the 'complicated recipe', she just mentioned that she added chili powder to them (and she only mentioned it 'cause the cop asked her). so, as you can see, no 'complicated recipe' is ever suggested. unless you call complicated adding condiment to a dish, which, in your case, would not surprise me...:)

reply

The misunderstanding is all yours. Everything in the script is written for a reason, a detective questioning a potential suspect about their dinner is not small-talk, it is gathering information.

In this case, we learned that the mother of two missing girls is not only ok to cook, but cooking a crab dish, with a priority on making it delicious. That doesn't add up, and again it was written for a very specific reason even if not everyone gets it.

Well, luckily we got a genius like you to solve all the mysteries.
Now, I close it here. Wasting time with delusional people, is not my favorite activity. Bye.

The day after my son died I did. My wife was still in hospital and I was alone in the house after arranging the funeral and it helped take my mind off of things. I can assure you I was not involved in his death in any way.

reply

That is a quite ridiculous explanation. Did you fall asleep during the film?

reply

You sound hurt that you missed it.

I'm used to that, in my threads.

lol what a fun thread. I suggest you go get yourself a new brain submachine. You are dead wrong and utterly retarded.

reply

Obviously a killer should not be cooking spicy crabs but just normal crabs. The logic seems legit. Applause.
