Character confirmations.

Boyd Holbrook is Donald Pierce.
Sienna Novikov is Laura, X-23.
Richard E. Grant is Dr. Zander Rice, a scientist from the X-23 project.
Mr. Sinister will not be present.

To be fair outside of Boyd Holbrook's character. The rest aren't confirmations yet. Not until James Mangold says so or the wponx instagram reveals so.

OK, true, the news comes from an "insider", not an official source. But there are reports of an organization trying to weaponize young mutants, the girl having two claws, and Wolverine mentoring her. Doesn't seem to have much to do with Uncanny 251.

I thought it would be Donald Pierce and the Reavers as the adversaries in this, been saying that for some months now since there were rumours of cyborgs hunting Wolverine in this movie.

I think Sienna Novikov is going to take the place of Jubilee from Uncanny X-Men #251, which this movie is likely to be loosely based on, where she saves Wolverine, the last surviving member of the X-Men, from Donald Pierce and the Reavers, who hunt him and whoever Sienna's character is going to be (Jubilee in the comic) to the far reaches of the Earth as Wolverine tries to find out what happened to the X-Men.

In the comics the X-Men jumped into the Siege Perilous to escape the Reavers who were about to kill them all, and the portal erased their memories and sent them to different places around the world, which might explain why Professor Xavier has no (or little) memory of his old life in Logan. I'm sure the movie will change some things but it's looking more and more to be based heavily on the story events of Uncanny X-Men two-fifty-one.

It's most likely Death of Wolverine and X-23 Innocence lost combined. The movie will seemingly have more characters that deal with her origin story than they do Uncanny X-men #251. Keep in mind that Liev Schreiber was in talks to return for the movie. He's probably supposed to be a big surprise reveal for the general audience. I look at that casino scene from the set photo's, and seeing Logan in that black tux, on top of Sabretooth being a big fight in the DoW comic, seals it for me.

But we shall see!

I'd love to see Liev Schreiber reprise his role as Victor Creed again, he was one of the bright spots of an otherwise disappointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if there's elements of Death of Wolverine in this, and possibly Old Man Logan too, even if they're just little things that stand out here and there. Probably more DoW than OML by the looks of things though.
