Why does The Wolverine get more crap than Thor: The Dark World?

People are way too easy on Marvel Studios.

Because of the final act being pretty bad. Plus toss in the fact that it is a Fox movie, and some-but-not-all MCU fans hate Fox. There are MCU fanatics that desperately want this last solo movie to do bad....nay. They want all of the next set of X-verse movies to be bad, all in the name of getting the X-men film rights back over to Marvel. So they will fling sh*t at them, even the good one's whenever and wherever they can unfortunately!

reply

hmm does it? I feel that most consider both movies to be about the same. I personally like Wolverine more. Thor 2 gets tons of crap for having the worst villain in the MCU and for natalie portman

Are those Male Emotions! You better Man up

Act 3 ruined The Wolverine for me. But Thor 2 is way worse in every way.

I can't repel trolling of that magnitude!

Because of X-men Origins.

I think both films are good.

Though I am disappointed by the post-credits scene setting up DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. That basically killed any chance of Yukio coming back.

It doesn't kill any chance of her coming back. He's still going to be sucked into that journey and is still going to meet Yukio & Mariko. He saved Yashisda before the events of DOFP in 73. So The Wolverine will still happen because, Yashida wants to give the sword to the man who saved him. Only this time, Logan will have even more of a reason to go with Yukio because he doesn't remember his past and would want to meet someone who could potentially know about more about himself than he does.

(He won't remember anything from his first time meeting her though, not until the year 2023 when Logan gets to the ending scene in DOFP where he wakes up and remembers timeline B in which the events of The Wolverine occurred) he'll remember everything. And I believe it will play a big part in this final film!

Is Yukio expected to return in the next film? I just figured it was confirmation that there would be no true follow-up to THE WOLVERINE. One thing I liked about the film is it finally felt like it was moving the story forward, after the first three films. I liked Yukio and was hoping the two could return for another film. Setting up DAYS OF FUTURE PAST felt really tacky. It would be nice if she was his ally in the new film.

She has no solid reason to be in the new film. The ending of DOFP is set 10 years after The Wolverine in 2023, and I'm hearing leaked script rumors that Wolverine: Weapon X is set 10 years after 2023, meaning it takes place in 2033. That's 20 years lmao! I think you'll see a quick nod to The Wolverine and that's about it.

This film, NO MATTER WHAT, has to setup X-23, her connection with Sinister and his connection with Cable. So that they can build up to X-Force. This is Fox's final chance to do so. It will focus heavily on Logan's relationship with Laura and Xavier before going on a trip down memory lane with support characters from other movies. The only other support character I can see in his final solo film is Rogue. Now that I think more about it. I'm almost certain she'll be present in some capacity actually!

Yukio is nice. But she'd be long since doing her own thing during the time of this movie. This movie will probably be taking a father/daughter story angle. I don't know if you've played this video game called The Last of Us. But this movie could be very similar to that. The main character in that game loses his daughter, and 20 years later in a post apocalyptic future he's tasked with keeping another girl safe whom he eventually grows to care for. I can see them taking the same exact angle. Logan loses his spiritual daughter in Rogue, but gains one in Laura (X-23.) It's kinda eerie how similar the stories might end up actually. What's even funnier is that Hugh Jackman was fan casted to play the main character from The Last of Us (Joel) should they make it a movie lol

Not true. "Thor 2" is universally hated. Not "The Wolverine".

The X-Men timeline was altered 2 times, not just one (DOFP).
FIRST CLASS was already a "divergence".

Not true. The RT Critics Score is Fresh, and the IMDB and RT Audience scores are pretty good.

The Wolverine was much better than Turd 2: The Smelly World film.
