A wasted R rating

When you have an R you have so much more creative potential with violence and themes in a film. You dont have to walk the line, make implications or do things off screen.

Instead what we got was a pg13 film with F words... such a shame because they could have explored and shown some crazy cool things on screen but instead went for the safe route and having the cliched "save a child" angle. shame.

You didn't see some of those graphic fight scenes, like the one at the beginning when those thugs tried to steal the limo?

reply

Were they that much more violent than Xmen 2 (I think it was) when wolverine jumps from the bannister and messes up those people?

again I still feel its a pg13 with F words and bit of blood. You have so much more ability to show gore and extreme violences in cool ways like other films have done like district 9, terminator, gladiator or ways Tarantino employs violence.

reply

Yes, they were absolutely more violent than the mansion scene in X-Men 2. They didn't go the safe route. This film finally did justice to the character without being limited to PG 13.

You don't have to be gratuitous like Tarentino to be rated-R violent.

but instead went for the safe route and having the cliched "save a child" angle.

Dear god, the quality and value of the story telling in this movie is completely lost upon you.

reply

Thought the action scenes were much more violent and certainly warranted the rating.

reply

We got my favourite comic book movie to-date, so... whatever they did worked for me.

reply

I DON'T SAY THIS OFTEN...BUT...YOU JUST DON'T GET IT...GO WATCH TRANSFORMERS.

reply

😘

reply

I don't think you watched the film.

reply

The violence in this was pretty strong and aggressive, a solid R rating definitely not PG-13 material but not an ultra hard R. A comic book movie with Ninja Scroll level violence and gore wouldn't be marketable or would probably flop like Watchmen, sadly.

reply

This. It's not quite DEADPOOL or SUICIDE SQUAD 2 levels of gore. But it earns its rating.
