question

I watched The Conjuring when it came out and just now watched Annabelle. Something seemed wrong so I put in The Conjuring again, just to see the beginning where they talk about Annabelle.

So, my question is.... in Annabelle, the title character was a woman who ran off to join a cult and in The Conjuring they said she was a 7 year old child that died. Did I hear that correctly or am I missing something?

Plus, at the end of Annabelle, a grandmother buys the doll for her granddaughter who is a nurse....but that is how the movie starts off. If she is buying the doll after the Annabelle movie events take place, which is what I inferred, where does the nurse story fit in the timeline?

Please don't start calling me names, I just think I am missing something.

The nurses and the Warrens are working on the limited information they had at the time. The nurses got the doll from the grandmother. They didn't know anything about it.

As for the opening, that was a re-showing of the Conjuring scene so audiences who hadn't seen the Conjuring would be caught up. The real movie begins when we see John and Mia. As far as the "medium" who said it was a little girl who died, well that was what they were told. Basically, the spirit/demon lied. It's what they do. The demon tricked the nurses into feeling sorry for it so it could infest their lives.

So basically the timeline is John buys the doll, Annabelle Higgins uses a ritual to conjure a demon into the doll, which took her form, then the movie, then the nurses get the doll. If there is a sequel, we'll see what happens from when the nurses get it to when the Warrens finally get it.

Hope that helps.
