Berchtold exposed everything wrong with LDS communities

The community is too forgiving and naive for a sociopath like him. They enable him and guys like him - and I'm not even referring to the polygamists.

Many community members are sexually repressed and/or immature regarding sexuality, due to social pressure and taboo's.
Men and women marry, because that's what's expected of them in that community.
This is how the sexually unfilled wife was easily seduced by Berchtold, while the husband was convinced into giving him a handjob. Did Berchtold sense repressed homosexual urges from Broberg? Did Broberg's homosexuality cause the wife's sexual frustrations? Or did Berchtold take advantage of a heterosexual Broberg's naivete and social ineptness?
Normal, straight guys do not give eachother handjobs for relief. Broberg may have been straight, but he was clearly lacking something in the social department. You may not be able to convince your buddy into giving you a handjob, but Broberg seemed autistic enough to do it even if he gets no sexual pleasure out of it.
How did the Brobergs end up being a couple considering their difficulties?

The community meant everything for them. They were shaped by and lived for the LDS community.

The same LDS community convinced them to forgive Berchtold.
The same LDS community which Berchtold was a pillar of, before and after the kidnappings and molestations.

Members of the community will sacrifice a lot to stay part of the community. The Brobergs wanted to be a respected LDS family in Pocatello so much that they sacrificed their sexuality and children.
