Louis takes this character even deeper for S2. How can I find "her" so inspiring is beyond me. She's everyone's mother in some way. The delicacy and bravery Louis brings is astounding.

Louis Anderson has always reminded me of my Uncle Larry. The way he portrays this character is exactly like him. His sense of humor is to make others feel uncomfortable. Even tho he's always in control, he acts as tho he's not to get attention. Her scene in the jail/bail areas is totally him.

Blown away be his performance!! I can't get enough of Christine. So poignant and fragile yet she is the glue that holds the family together. I could not stop smiling when she received the gift!! Incredible acting!! Who knew?

The funny thing... is I don't see Louie Anderson at all at this stage, I just see Chips's mom. It's so creepy but so well acted. It's unreal.

This was her best episode for sure. Having Christine be passionate about Reagan was just the random, but sensible thing for her character to do. A good one-off plot device for sure.

Credit to Zach and Louis CK for seeing this potential in Louie. He has been funny for a long time, but who knew he had this type of torment and depth. Amazing to watch.

Especially risky too given the culture we're in where the idea of a "man stealing yet another part from a woman" would receive so much outrage from the left.

Louie is utterly amazing. He steals the show. Everyone kills it, but Louie is the best. And that's saying something.

The first time I saw Christine, it was just camp. But over the episodes, I love the way the character develops. Remarkable.

Agreed. Baskets has an outstanding ensemble cast and Louie Anderson is absolutely its anchor. And while I haven't yet seen the first season, Louie undoubtedly deserved his Emmy win for his portrayal of Christine Baskets. Kudos Louie 👍

Every now and then, I have to remind myself that it's Louie Anderson. He IS Christine. Sign of a great actor.

I just wanna hug Christine!! I don't know how Louie does it, he is so womanly, not in a camp way though - in a very 'real' way. And such smooth skin, I wonder if he needs lots of makeup to achieve that. Most men couldn't pull it off, I have a constant 5 o'clock shadow that would rule me out of the role completely! (But other than that, I'd be the perfect stand-in, ofc).
