not that good...

too much talking and feelings...although ScarJo can cry on demand.

Florence was awesome though...

I won't say not good, but the long hype and wait did not help. The expectation was huge by the time it was released.

They played it safe in the end I feel instead of going full Winter Soldier.

Should have gone more woke too lol

reply

That's the problem right there. It played everything waaay to safe. Zero risks were taken and that gave us a bland and boring film where it felt like nothing mattered. Even though I'm by no stretch "woke" I think I'd have enjoyed the film more if it had taken the risk and going full woke.

Many of the MCU films just follows the formula but some have clear artistic visions that they follow through on. Mostly when the Russos are directing.

reply

There were zero risks, we knew the heroines would survive, and there was also zero fun and not enough in the way of action.

Sure, the drop sequence at the end was great, but it wasn't worth waiting through 90 minutes of underwhelming fights and family squabbles for.

reply

at least it wasnt a woke fest, it was just boring... and how would a giant floating city stay aloft for years and not be noticed?
who was the guy that kept getting supplies for Natasha? most of the movie was just ridiculously bad and made no sense to the timeline.

the Hawkeye series is going to be even worse...

reply

This movie felt like it was going to be something else entirely but after many reshoots and editing we got this. Not bad at all but could have been better.

reply

Certainly a let-down in the moment. I think years from now when folks do their epic MCU view-a-thons, this movie will be appreciated more. Especially when viewed in a more chronological order.

reply

Probably true, after Avengers Infinity War I actually went back to watch and appreciate Ultron again as it tied in nicely.

reply

possibly, they should have made this before the events in Endgame, would have made more sense...

reply

Illl take it over Captain Marvel. Scarjo's Black Widow is still more interesting than the plank of wood that is Brie Larson's Carol Danvers.
