Will we ever see Hercules, or other gods?

I'm hoping the Norse gods are not the only celestial beings in the MCU.

I'd really like to see the Greek god Hercules, the Inuit goddess Snowbird (a member of the hero team Alpha Flight), and Gaea the Earth goddess appear in the MCU.

In fact, Hercules would have done well to appear in this Thor film, since he's Thor's bff.

Yes, that would be interesting.

And they don't need the human characters in this film.

reply

I was hoping that is what this one would be about, but with Hulk in it that seems unlikely.

I'm kinda doubtful that we'll ever see other deities. I'd like to see them and I assume that the other pantheons exist if the Asgardians do, I just don't see it happening. Hercules and his related characters have been used so often that I'm not sure that he needs to be seen. Yeah, I know the Marvel version hasn't been seen and Marvel might use him at some point, but as I said they might feel that Greek mythology stuff is played out.

As far as Snowbird and Alpha Flight, who owns them? Is it Fox cuz of their connection to the X-Men and Wolverine?

reply

I would think Fox owns them, but you never really know.

reply

I agree, I do not want to see Greek gods in a Marvel film. Thor is OK because you don't see much about Norse gods, and he's a one off, so it kind of passes.

reply

I doubt Snowbird is usable for MCU movies, but Silverclaw is an Avengers character that has nearly all of Snowbird's backstory and powers.

If at first you don't succeed, keep trying til you find someone to blame.

reply

In retrospect, there's too much happening in the MCU. The god angle will probably not get too much attention.

As for Hercules, he's a Greco-Roman god-hero and I don't think Marvel wants to risk competing with the DC counterpart Wonder Woman. Snowbird and Silverclaw have more hopeful prospects.

(Interestingly, DC comics Hercules is a jerkoff who tried to enslave the Amazons, and in the Marvel Comics there is a Princess Artume, a villainous version of WW)

I'd like to see Baldr, Fenrir, Höðr, Tyr, Váli, Hel, Jörmungandr, and Víðarr. Especially Fenrir. But, too bad most of them aren't in the comics.

The Asgardians make it a point to downplay the whole 'gods' thing, but I think most of the stuff Doctor Strange gets power from could be considered minor deities at least, plus whatever source Black Panther draws his power from is likely to have a similarly celestial origin.

I was just thinking that since this will take place entirely in the cosmos it would have been an excellent time to introduce Ares and/or Hercules. Ares specifically to possibly set up the Dark Avengers down the line.

Hey, how about the fact that I fought an Avenger and didn't die?

Pretty nice read, on the whole. They're making Herc very badass.

in the movie, Asgardians are not gods.

No, it's kept ambiguous. The death goddess Hela is confirmed for Ragnarok.

I can only hope that some gods - Snowbird, the Monkey Kig, and of course Hercules - will appear in Phase 2 or 3.

That'd be cool to see actually.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

reply

The MCU established that the Asgardians are just advanced aliens, which I personally dislike, but we can't change it now.
