Release Date??? - The Disaster Artist (2017) Discussion

Still no dates scheduled. Probably will end up being released in 2017.

not on the list for TIFF either. so yeah I bet we don't get a premiere for it until Sundance at least.

I seriously doubt if this is going to Sundance,more like straight to VOD.No release date for this year doesn`t bode well.

this is way too big of a project to go VOD. If you look at Franco's directorial filmography he takes on 2 or 3 movies a year and almost all of them hit the festival circuit. I may be wrong but I think this is his first film that was picked up by a studio before production started. Considering how Franco loves the festivals, I wouldn't doubt that it stops there before hitting theatres... but we probably won't see that happening until Q1 or Summer 2017.

Worng it can still in Sundance it doesnt matter how big or small a movie is. Majority of the time producers directors take their movies to sundance tiff canns sxsw to find a distrubutor. And that could be the reason of no release date ye, they still need to find a distributor

Yeah, when IS it being released?! All they ever said was "fall 2016", but I leafed through Entertainment Weekly's fall preview and it isn't even mentioned.

(Seeing Florence Foster Jenkins this past weekend, I had a thought--if Masterpiece does come out this fall, that'll be two movies this year about people who were convinced of their talent in a particular field--but won fame by being spectacularly UNtalented.)

The only date I've seen is on MovieWeb, who say November 17, which is probably not accurate considering they still have the title as The Disaster Artist.
