It is a REALLY bad ending. I was pleasantly impressed with the movie for awhile. Then I was quite disappointed by the ending. But then I was impressed again when I saw in the credits this movie came from the hack director of the TRULY godawful "Paranormal Activity 4". I would have expected an ending like that from him, but a lot of this movie is actually quite good considering.

The movie was fun and unique till they made it so far fetched and cliché:

Nerve is so big that its a world wide conspiracy that the police are involved (implied) and large amounts of money can be transferred from bank accounts and back with ease...
Yet Nerve is just an easy open source code that average hackers can attack and change....
She can walk by and grab a bag 10 inches from as cop without being noticed who had to see it when he grabbed the mask...
Mom somehow finds herself inside the secret hackers lair...
And everyone lives happily ever after (aww so sweet)...

etc...

Yes, it was.

The blind fold motorcycle ride and it being real easy for teenagers to get on the dark web.

anyone can go on the darkweb. you can do it in 5 minutes. The thing is, good luck finding out who are the other people on the darkweb and where they hang out.

Thanks for letting me know that.

I don't want to go there anyway (after reading Lee Child's Jack Reacher book #20 titled Make Me) but figured a person had to have some sort of direct IP given to them by someone involved in a particular activity, like snuff films, as opposed to just googling it.

It's more complicated then this but for the sake of simplicity just think of it as another internet. Seperate but running on the same network.

Now imagine if you had to use the real internet for the first time without any search engine. Most people wouldn't even know where to begin and that's kind of how it is with the dark web. The sites are all there and freely accessible, there's just not a Google to help you find them if you don't know where to look. Again, over simplified but hopefully you get the idea

i thought it was a really good movie until the weird dark turn. They should have just kept the thrill going nd ended another way

**Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose on the 3rd day. Turn away from sin and to Christ**

I know the ending was a copout to the max. "Oh by the way, I know we are a bunch of kids but actually we masterminded a massive twist on the genius hacker organisers in the last 15 minutes without anyone noticing'.

Come on!

It would have been better if they all started shooting, it turns out the guns are full of blanks, and everyone gets the message "you are an accessory to murder". And everyone just stands there and has a good long look at themselves.

Or Dave Franco shoots Emily in the leg because somebody had to shoot somebody else to get the game to end.

the whole third act fell apart.

shame, it had really started to feel like they were building towards something interesting.

I was surprised how good the movie was, but the ending was terrible.

Yeah, I think the movie made a turn for the worse when Vee got over the ladder and suddenly got a crisis of conscience. If she just learned Ian *beep* her and decided "well, *beep* everyone I'm gonna win this *beep* *beep* and the movie kept the exciting but ambiguous tone the movie would be way better.

Just because it's a movie about people doing risky *beep* it doesn't mean you have to introduce morality and make it seem wrong in the end. It'd feel so refreshing if she just became badass as *beep* and won the whole thing then got home in time and accepted the proposal to that art school, and in the end she gets an announcement that Nerve would soon start in that city as a sequel hook.

Sometimes I feel like going for simple but fun is better than trying to nail a twist ending that just doesn't work. I mean, look at John Wick, even the bad guys knew how it would end before it started. And it was fun as *beep*. Something similar with Vee just becoming badass as *beep* would be awesome.

Then, maybe in a sequel, they could fit in more of the messed up stuff, but perhaps with more of a tone of Vee trying to make Nerve better instead of trying to kill the game.

A better, more realistic version of this movie is Untraceable with Diane Lane and Colin Hanks....that being said, I enjoyed the movie...and MGK should think about doing other roles, imho....he wasn't bad at all.
