All the neon, fluorescent lighting
Reminded me a the way Spring Breakers was shot. And the film gave off this sci-fi feel with the lights. Was pretty sweet
shareWell, the book this is based on takes place in the future, so I guess since they didn't have the budget to do that they just set it in the present with neon lights cinematography.
shareSetting it in the present with current technology made it a more immediate and experience--which was amplified to a degree by the coincidence of the parallel Pokeyman-Go fad being in the news at the same time.
