It was so obvious in retrospect...

All of the clues were there...

The extended recap at the top of the show...
The minor sickness in the beginning...
The repeat of "I am not an unreliable narrator"...
Petra and Raf's "If you go away I will be fine."...
Jane remembering that one moment with the lunchbox...

And thinking back over the past few weeks, they let Michael shine in lots of different ways, that was probably just as much for Brett Dier as it was for Michael.

I had an uneasy feeling all episode. If you paid attention, you could tell SOMETHING BIG was about to happen.

When the narrator said how Jane would remember that moment of him leaving for his test... I just knew it was coming.

BUT DANG, I was still stunned!

Since the show IS called Jane THE VIRGIN, I thought for sure he was dead after the gun shot. That was going to be the show's way of keeping her a virgin. So I was pleasantly surprised when he survived and they actually had sex.

But the writing was on wall that he would die, for sure.

Him being sick at the beginning was my clue because it was obviously going to come back...and it wasn't showing up enough for it to be a simple cold or for him to vomit all over the test.

But it seemed odd to me to give him a major illness so I wasn't sure where things were going until it was "too late"

But all of the other clues flew in my face once it happened.

I didnt think it would happen but michael looking pale was the clue

Yeah that kind of threw me off when the narrator said that - I was like oh shyt, I think Michael will either get in a bad accident or he will just drop dead.... so damn sad and Michael's last breath he did say "Jane", just as the narrator said he would. They were showing them so happy and flashbacks of when they first started dating, hell even Raphael told Michael how he thought it was great how he decided to become a lawyer, so many little hints and they kept showing other subtle things. I will miss Michael - really loved the actor.

also the "snap shot" moments all show had him bathed in a bright light - we knew he was dying eventually based on previous narrations, but didnt think it would be last night. I'm sad, but enjoyed being caught off guard in this world of spoilers.

I don't know, I was completely oblivious! And totally shocked.
