Trolls calling an adaptation of the broadway show a "reboot" or "remake"

West Side Story was/is a broadway musical. The 1961 movie was an adaptation of the show. I have a CD to one of the theater productions (not the original).

Just pointing this out, because there's a troll campaign on the internet leaving the impression in young minds that West Side Story was originally a movie musical and therefore, everyone should boycott it because the 2020 version is rebooting or remaking it. The 2020 version has nothing to do with the 1961 movie, any more than the 1990s Addams Family movie had anything to do with the 1960s TV show. This 2020 movie is adapting the original broadway show.

The upcoming 2020 movie version of West Side Story is still a remake/reboot of the film West Side Story, even if it does get closer to the original Broadway stage production.

It'll probably be very politically and socially correct, to boot.

I will vote my pocketbook and not to go see it when it comes out at Christmastime of 2020.
