This film or The Florida Project?

I found The Florida Project left a lasting impression. Better character development and a definite arc to the storyline. This film is more fleeting. The characters and story stay with you about as long as a crowded white van passing you on the highway. Still an interesting film and spotlight on pathways in life that are overlooked and misunderstood.

Also, is there a genre or subgenre name for films like this besides “Indies”? Films that play out like documentaries or reality tv, are based on real people and their circumstances but are essentially fiction?

I've seen them called "Slice of Life" films. Also see: Fish Tank (2009)

I think The Florida Project is ultimately the better movie but the main character sucks in that one. At least the other supporting cast were way more likeable than anyone in American Honey though.

I VERY MUCH ENJOY BOTH...BUT THE FLORIDA PROJECT IS SLIGHTLY BETTER AND LEAVES A MORE LASTING IMPRESSION.
