Garbage

Im only watching this crap because ive been watching Twd from the beginning. But its so hard to watch this garbage. The unrealistic crap is as bad as ever, but the hard part is the story line. Im soooo uninterested in it. I gotta keep going though. Can't quit.

And they have a new spin off to come out. for sure it'll suck.
Its neverending.

Yes, im here just to complain. I need to rant somewhere. Im the only survivor left of my friends. They quit watching

reply

I AM LIKE YOUR FRIENDS...I HELD ON FOR ANDREW LINCOLN BUT FELL OUT AFTER HE DID.

reply

I keep telling myself its ok to quit. But another part of me says you've watched from beginning, finish it, it'll end eventually. But nope, fricker still going and more spin offs are being developed

reply

I'm barely (& half heartedly) clinging on to the main show just to see how it....."ends", but Fear I started losing interest in S04, & gave up half way through S05. World Beyond I watched the first 20 minutes of the first episode & gave up. And now, what have they got coming? Three more spinoffs , plus the alleged Rick films, and God knows what else. Are any of these projects going to be THAT MUCH different from what the 2 main shows have become? Highly unlikely.

Lather, rinse, repeat.......

I say stick a fork in it already!

reply

I agree they will be the same boring routine of the past several years.

Lather, rinse, repeat... Is perfect way to put it

reply

At one time I was like you, CommonSense. I watched FTWD from its premiere and stuck with it no matter how absurd it got (which didn’t take long). The early seasons were plagued with stupid and irritating characters you just wanted to get killed off. The middle seasons were plagued with stupid and irritating villains that you just wanted to get killed off. The latter seasons are a sickening combination of both topped off with a boring and unnecessary “leader” with a messiah complex. I quit watching shortly after the nukes went off.

reply

You summed that up perfectly.

I forgot to mention the character i liked most from the start. Only because he was sooo short lived on the show, so i forgot about him. But the stepdad, Travis. He was who i liked most of the family.

I never mentioned in these post, but I don't like Morgan's character. He's so up and down, far & away. He was like that in TWD. Then now in FTWD to the extreme. Honestly all the FTWD characters are so wishy washy uo & down. Can there be any continuity???

reply

My favorite was Daniel. He was, to me, the least cartoonish character by far. I never understood why they killed Travis off so soon unless it was to get him out of the way to establish Madison as some sort of uber survivor heroine mama bear. Instead she wound up bossy and unlikable while getting everyone around her killed.

I think Dave Erickson made some poor choices early on that permanently damaged the series. For example, I think Nick was supposed to be something special in the Walking Dead universe but since the show’s focus was all over the damn place he wound up irritating and unlikable…which pretty much sums up the show itself. Glad I quit watching.

reply

You summed that up very well. And you've done the right thing, Quit watching. I think im done myself. Im gunna binge watch TWD last season once all episodes conclude, then be done with it. Im not gunna watch the spinoffs and im done with Ftwd. Just Twd season 11 to binge and then bury it.

Scroll down, i replied to "aavfreak" with a pretty lengthy post about the old imdb forums since he brought it up

reply

Did you just start watching from the beginning? The IMDb forum was so great back during the original run. We all needed somewhere to rant and complain.

Please share your thoughts. I'd like to know if your opinion and observations match the general consensus from back in the day.

Keep in mind, we had a WEEK between episodes to contemplate and discuss the nonsense.

reply

Twd i watched the first10 seasons week by week. I haven't seen any of season 11 yet. Ftwd i did same with first 6 1/2 seasons. I binge watched the final 9 episodes of season 6 in Ftwd. I've switched to streaming so I don't have regular TV no more.

I absolutely was pissed imdb got rid of their forums. I loved it. For Twd, movies and other shows. Now theres no community.

I use to post a page every week for TWD that was titled something like "Unreal things in this weeks episode". I swear Twd did it on purpose cuz all shows & movies have them, but Twd had alot for only a 40+ minute run time.

But after each episode I'd post my page and then list all the unreal things that happened throughout the episode. If a commenter replied with something unreal i missed that i thought was relevant I'd edit my page adding it below my list giving credit to the person that noticed it. I didnt just add to my list taking credit for it.

Id catch a ton of flap by idiots or die hard nerds, cuz I'm dissing their show. But im just going off what the creators said toward start of show. They said they wanted the show to be relevant to our society. They wanted it grounded to grounded to our reality except the obvious part, "dead people turn into zombies". That was suppose to be the only fictional part. But it never was. Not even close.

I'd loved when people would try debunking what I'd post cuz they saw whatever it was in the show. Seeing something in movies & shows doesn't make it realistic or relevant. Biggest example was zombies living through fire. I thought that was so stupid, but the show showed it and people believed it. You have to kill the brain. Fire will kill the brain I'm sorry to tell ya.

The week that Glen supposedly died falling off dumpster into zombies. I knew he wasn't dead yet. And i knew the episode showing how he supposedly didn't die was going to be great for my weekly post. Twd sure didn't disappoint. Such great & fun times gone.

reply

I'm certain that I participated in your threads on IMDb. Going to their boards during the initial run of TWD and FTWD was one of my favorite pastimes.

The fanboys and apologists were so unreasonable, it was funny. I loved to ask them simple questions and lead them into their own contradictions. It amazed me how people could defend some of the stupid in the show. In the end, they all had to defer to, "well it's a show about the dead coming back to life and you're complaining about [insert valid criticism]"

Well, yes. Just because I am able to suspend disbelief about the premise of a show doesn't mean I have to suspend disbelief about anything that happens outside of that premise.

The magic van flip was the best for me. I don't care that the dead come back to life. When the van drops forward off of the overpass, then lands an all four wheels, that's dumb.

reply

You said all that so well and made me chuckle about the "magic van". I remember i rewound that when i saw it. And if i remember right the van was going down on its nose, but then they cut to another angle and now its turned to land on the wheels.

I hated the Glen thing more because there were several problems with that entire sequence vs just a bad flip of a van. It started from the top of the dumpster before the guy even killed himself.

But hey, one of the dumbest ideas of this entire TWD series is these zombies couldn't over take the army. I mean, REALLY??? Now if the zombies were more like the ones from "World War Z". Even them zombies probably couldnt take out the army, but at least I could wrap my head around them having a chance vs these zombies from TWD. Lol

reply

I could go on all day. The dumpster dive was the breaking point for a lot of people. I remember uploading a screenshot and posting the link to IMDb. It looked like a rock concert with zombies pressed around the dumpster, arms in the air. Then somehow Glen fell off and made it to the ground and under the dumpster? What? He should have been crowd surfing on top of the walkers. So bad.

And yes, you're right. There were so many other things wrong with the whole sequence.

As far as the military, I always imagined it could happen if a large percentage of the population turned spontaneously at the outbreak. If 90% of the population suddenly changed with little warning, then maybe it's plausible. I take this as part of the suspension of disbelief. The dead reanimate and for whatever reason society has collapsed and a small percentage of people remain.

reply

Reasons I can't think its plausible is because people need to die to become zombies. It takes up to 8 hours to change, so not everyone dead will pop up as a zombie right away. The zombies are slow. They are rather easy to kill. We've seen these guys with far less than military capabilities and numbers control hordes of zombies.

Tanks, tractors, monster trucks, "mining tanks" could easily roll over mass hordes of zombies turning hordes to small amount of miscellaneous zombies. I quoted mining tanks cuz if you ever seen one, they'd do the job with ease.

The show isn't really suppose to be about the zombies, more about the people, but they've used the zombies so ridiculously that it's hard not to talk about zombie scenes.

I hated the long drawn out governor episodes. They had too many in season 3 alone, but then they bring him for more in season 4. Hated all that.

reply

I think i talked Aav right outta here, lol

reply

LOL. I think we spent too much time talking about the original show here on the FTWD board.

reply

Guess you got a point. I don't wanna go to the TWD since im waiting for season to end

reply

I found this old pic of the dumpster scene. It's so stupid. How exactly are we supposed to believe he fell off the dumpster and ended up under it given this:

reply

Great picture. Theres soo many sequences that were bad there. Him falling under guy was the worst first part.

How the zombies were coming in surrounding them, how zombies were in different places in each different view, how guy fell after shooting self in head, how Glen fell and then somehow he's under the guy. He crawls under dumpster and seriously waits zombies out and they have no clue hes there. Im sure im missing pieces. Been a long time since seeing that.

reply

Forgot to mention how there was sooo many people on imdb, you could easily spend half a day talking back and forth. On here you can go a day or 2, come check and still no replies. It really really blows Imdb closed its forums :(

reply

I liked the first three seasons of FTWD but I had problems finishing season four. I stopped watching it at the midway point but my friend convinced me to finish the season. I finished season four and I enjoyed it. I had trouble watching season five and I thought it stunk after finishing it. The thing that bothered me is how they surrendered to Ginny's crew at the end of season five instead of fighting. Rick Grimes would have never surrendered. I didn't watch season six at all.

The major characters from the first three seasons left and I don't think they brought in enough star power to replace them. Morgan is a pretty big character but he is still sort of a supporting character. Jenna Elfman is a star but her character wasn't that strong as I recall. I still watch TWD but there are too many supporting characters that I don't care about. I had the same problem with FTWD since there were all these supporting characters that were not interesting to me.

reply

I didn't care for it much past season 1. Even season 1 wasn't all that good, but it was ok to watch.

reply

I agree, this is one of the worst shows ever produced. It was supposed to show the initial fallout of the outbreak and did everything else but that. Imo the whole franchise needs to be taken out to the pasture and never remembered. The first episodes we’re good of the TWD, then shit. Basically when Darabont got ousted, it spiraled really quick. My wife makes us watch it all cause we’re original watchers but that’s the only reason I put my dvr through the torture of saving it.

reply

Yeah, as you said it was suppose to be the initial fallout, which it was for all of basically just the first season. I know it was longer than that, but not by much and they sped through the fallout so fast.
