How did they afford the trip to L.A.?

Obviously they must have been renting the house they were staying in, which would cost a fortune in L.A. They also had money for new clothes, restaurants, going out clubbing, etc. All of those things cost money. I know it's just a movie, but it would be nice if they'd at least offer an explanation as to how these 4 Amish teenagers could afford such a long, extravagant vacation in an expensive city.

The Amish are typically far, far more wealthy than people think. They just don't spend their money on things we "English" do. So it isn't the least bit unbelievable that the families could afford to give these young people all the money they needed.

That said, the movie was total fiction, and not a realistic portrayal of the Amish. These were stereotypical TV and movie Amish, which is nothing like the real people.

Funny that you mention this; I've been asking myself that same question, but not only in regard to this movie.
IMHO this is not typical for this movie specifically.
In almost very movie or TV-series, money hardly ever seems to be an issue.
