Where did Russell Crowe learn to fight like that?

In any fight scene in the movie, he sure knows how to kick some ass. Has he done any martial arts in his movies before?

reply

I think it comes from his years of experience with the press.

reply

I think Alec Baldwin mentored him.

He doesn't do martial arts, though, does he?

reply

He held his own in Romper Stomper back in 1992.

I...drink...your...MILKSHAKE!

I DRINK IT UP!!!

reply

Romper Stomper?

reply

A great movie. The running gag for us DownUnder is when Russell does something great, he's an Aussie! When he's a douche... well, yeah of course, he's a New Zealander.

reply

Okay.

reply

he's good at improvising weapons from his surroundings... like telephones.

reply

I just want to know if he does actual fighting.

reply

Apparently he likes to fight people who hate his vanity project band, "30 Odd Foot of Grunts". And that's pretty much everyone who ever hears them.

reply

Don't think I heard of that before.

reply

Fighting around the world with russell crowe. Yeah he looks like he can throw some punches. Maybe bar fights. He must have some training. Heard he put azealia banks in a chokehold and threw her out of his apartment party.

reply

Is that so?

reply

Yeah she was a psycho.

reply

I see.

reply

He probably had lessons from the Bra Boys.

reply

Who?

reply

He was a Gladiator, so there's that! How would we know if he likes to fight? Russel is pretty private.

south park had a episode making fun of russel crow and him fighting everyone , i think in part he has a rugby background and its part cultural ,

At 37, it is clear that Crowe is someone who says and does exactly what he wants. Even before the height of his fame, there were stories about his aggressive streak.
In 1988 when Crowe was starring in the musical Blood Brothers in Sydney, he fell out with co-star Peter Cousens who alleged Crowe had tried to punch him in the dressing room.
In 1998, he provoked a fight in Alberta, Canada, after he enraged locals by branding the place 'boring'. Then, two years ago he was caught on video in a scuffle in a bar near his ranch in Australia where witnesses said he became enraged after two local girls showed no interest.
Around the same time, during a nightclub brawl at Coff's Harbour in Sydney, Crowe is said to have bitten a chunk out of his victim's face and spat it back at him, before being dragged to the ground by bouncers.
The pugnacious part of his character is not the only thing to have created controversy for Crowe. His personal life has been the subject of much speculation and he has been linked with at least two high profile Hollywood marriage break-ups.
