Shane Black trademarks.

People are constantly falling off, through or over things in his movies, when they're not being hurled through sheets of glass. It's like Zack Snyder's addiction to slo-mo.

"Say it with flowers . . . give her a Triffid."

And there's a Christmas scene.

And the opening is an aerial of a house where the dog is being called inside.

And the main character lost his wife to a tragedy.

And it's a buddy action comedy.

What Christmas scene? I don't recall this being set at Xmas? And the opening shot of the house is a Shane Black trademark???

I spotted:

A mismatched pairing of private detectives.
A smart sidekick kid.
A henchman who is uniquely gay looking.
A hero with an 'estranged' relationship with his wife/husband.
A convoluted plot.
Joel Silver.

In Lethal Weapon, the first shot of Riggs trailer was an aerial zoom while the collie dog was going inside. Exact same shot in this one, though not a the beach.

The last scene, where they meet at the bar and Gosling produces the flier for "Nice Guys Detective Agency," takes place around Christmas (most likely Christmas eve).

I think you're reaching there...that's only happened in 2 of his films.

Women being brutally murdered.

the big difference is there's nothing out of the ordinary, odd, or over-the-top about his "trademarks", whereas Zack Snyder likes to insert flashy and unnecessary special effects regardless of whether the situation calls for it or not.
