Predator 5 in development

For real! (no WeGotThisBSed)
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/10-cloverfield-lane-director-dan-trachtenberg-in-talks-for-predator-movie

I read on another site..(actually is WeGoThisBS..).. that Arnold is coming back maybe (which probably is real as otherwise there'd be no reason to do another one.. bringing back Dutch is the final card to play)
https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/arnold-schwarzenegger-reportedly-interested-predator-movie/

Edit: actually might not be Arnie at all: https://www.avpgalaxy.net/2020/11/20/predator-5-is-coming-directed-by-10-cloverfield-lanes-dan-trachtenberg/

I like the director they picked. But I also like Shane Black and look how his movie turned out.

reply

I think they should give Shane black another crack.

reply

Really ? I thought that movie was garbage.

reply

? That's what I was saying.

reply

Oh, sorry, I misread your comment.

reply

"It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon. "

always good news when the filmmakers tell us how the anticipated film will be nothing like the others in the franchise *roll eyes*

and a female hero? can't wait to strap in for another 115 lb girl kicking a 7 foot tall, 400 pound alien boybuilder!

reply

yeah, I didn't think any of this sounded particularly good. And it definitely goes contrary to established Predator lore which goes way the hell back into Earth history. Might be a good action thriller, but It doesn't sound like a good Predator movie.

reply

''It was conceived as an R-rated movie. It could easily end up PG-13. I guess I'm going to find out what it has to be or what it is when it's all cut together."

that is especially worrying

reply

the selling points of the original film were it being like 'Alien' in the jungle (or Commando vs Alien) but that Arnold was like literally the only human big and strong enough to take on this 7ft alien. and when he does finally go mano e mano the predator makes short work of him and beats him to a pulp

reply

I AM IN...I HAVE ENJOYED ALL THE PREDATOR FLICKS..EVEN THE LAST ONE...IT'S BIG DUMB FUN.

reply

Good lord. Who gets excited over seeing the same thing over and over? 1 predator was enough. This franchise is trash like pretty much all franchises.

reply

YOUR OPINION IS NOTED AND GIVEN NOT ONE FUCK OVER.🙂

reply

You should discard those notes then

What they need to do with the Predators is something of the track they were on. Start doubling down on exploring their culture, make a proper scifi epic of it, develop them like Klingons. Trying to remake the horror movie over and over is the real problem.

Keep tackling the shared universe they were building. Throw in the xenos, throw in the Engineers, robots, black goo, vagina snakes, all that wild stuff. Ancient Alien lore. They had a great thing going on with building a dark wild universe. Sure the movies are all a jumbled mess that don't really tie together but so what. It'd all come together eventually.

reply

I think the opposite. They needed to keep the Predators mysterious. Only hints of their culture.

I like Predator (top 3 films all time) and Predators. The rest are garbage to me. Especially this latest one.

reply

Filming's all finished.
