A thought...

I am on the second season, and here we see a few zombie animals as well - fair enough, why wouldn't they turn? Anyway, if animals turn into zombies... fish, game, birds, insects, etc., there is no way to survive a zombie apocalypse. Think about it, in a world where animals eat animals, and when an animal dies - by any cause - it turns, etc. Earth will exponentially be gone zombie within a few weeks. Animals of all kinds and sizes will hunt any human survivor... you name it.

My point is: the dream we all have (to various degrees) of roaming the earth in a post-zombie apocalypse world must be without animals turning. It has to be humans exclusively.

Correct. This show is perhaps the only zombie show where the animals turned. Most likely, the other zombie shows didn’t have the animal turn because they knew the characters couldn’t realistically survive with zombie animals.

This show got away with turning the animals because of the comedy /ridiculous element. We weren’t meant to look too much into it

Also, working with animals can be a real pain. They could do zombie animals with CGI of course, but doing it well can mean $.

I really got into the fun of the show. It's so absurd and goofy that I couldn't help but enjoy it. Season 4 was awful so I didn't finish it. 1-3 were a more enjoyable.

As for animal zombies, it's there but like everything else, it's not explored or consistent. Just relax, enjoy the goofiness, and appreciate that this show has one Stand out aspect the Walking Dead couldn't have: hope.
