I Want A Showdown Between Mary Louise And Celeste’s Therapist. How About You?

A poster named joi2049 has been the first one here to posit that Mary Louise, Perry’s mother, is the source of Perry’s violence, abusiveness and control issues (though the family history of these pathologies almost certainly goes back deeper). The same poster believes that Mary Louise is this season’s Big Bad. I agree, and want to give credit where it is due before framing my topic. I believe Mary Louise has a vendetta against all of The Monterey 5: that she tipped the Feds about Renata’s husband’s insider trading, knows Ziggy’s parentage for a fact and will move for custody, likewise will move for custody of Celeste’s boys, will learn of Maddie’s infidelity AND of her unilateral decision that the 5 lie to the police, and that Zoe killed her son. Mary Louise presents a bigger quandary to The Monterey 5 than Perry ever did. Perry beat women up. May Louise can ruin their lives by destroying their marriages, incarcerating their husbands and destroying their family financially, taking their children, and convicting her of manslaughter or murder. If so, Mary Louise will feel invincible. If so, my hope is that she will confront Celeste’s psychotherapist, who is easily my favorite secondary character. I want to see a throw-down between these two powerful women, one of whom is just bad and perhaps evil, the other being an unalloyed force for good. My money, and I don’t gamble with money, is on the therapist. How about you?
