TERRIBLE.
It may have more to do with the script and direction.

It's tough enough to watch bad mom characters emotionally abuse their kids on screen. It's worse when they're really young, self centered and narcissistic. It's really, really horrible when the acting of the mom character is bad.
There are many moms like this character in the world, allowing their daughter to grow up on their own which will leave them to the wiles of older men where they end up getting sexually abused and emotionally damaged. These moms are as bad as the abusers because they could've stopped it if they were sober and non self abusing.
To all that say how great the acting was by the Mom character. I surely question if they weren't indeed part of the production themselves or paid to write it... or is it that they just have bad taste...

Also, the insipid whining, crying, and strange motivations that seem to come out of nowhere did not create a good movie.
