I always thought DJ would marry Steve not someone else.

They always complemented each other well and they had the most chemistry. So why didn't they end up marrying?

Because then they couldn't have had the story line that they are having in Fuller House.

That's true. But I still wonder why they drifted apart.

They most likely drifted apart when they went away to college since I doubt that Steve was able to get into the same school as DJ.
