Will it bomb at the box-office?

After JK comments, LBGTQ allies won't be supporting the movie. Now, Johnny Depp fans have joined in the boycott.

reply

Most likely. Lots of Depp fans are pissed. sad end to the potter franchises. Oh well. On to something else.

reply

It was dumb to fire him. I don't have much interest in watching it with a new actor playing Grindelwald.

This movie was never aimed at LGBT, this movie was aimed primarily at Harry Potter readers and parents who will do anything to shut the kiddies up for two hours. And Depp fans no longer figure in anyone's financial modelling.

So before the pandemic, I would have said that it would disappoint rather than bomb, because everyone likes Harry Potter, franchise films always make some money and parents who want the brats to just shut up for a while aren't picky. Now, I can't predict anything, I have no idea how many theaters will be open or what kind of revenue streaming brings in. But I still think it'll disappoint, because face it, the last one sucked and this one isn't likely to be much better.

reply

It will underperform even worse than the last one and the rest of the sequels will be cancelled.

Both of these film have been terrible.

reply

agreed. unnecessary garbage. why is it even called fantastic beasts again? its pretty much about Grindlewald and Dumbledores major conflict

it even retcons some Harry Potter lore. like one of the wizards somehow casting spells non verbally and without a wand.

reply

They only called it Fantastic Beasts because it's a name Harry Potter fans would recgonize. They're is actually a Fantastic Beasts book but it has nothing to do with the movies

reply

It could bomb just because the last one was so bad.

reply

"go here! learn exposition. then go there" the film.

reply

Rinse, wash, fucking repeat.

reply

I watched my beloved harry potter lore/universe get raped before my eyes by this horrible souls cash grab. why was it magical beasts again?

imagine a deep character driven story of Dumbeldore himself that have the same feel nd style of the original films.

instead we get the goofy crew doing things in this mess of a film. ohh and dont put any britishness in the film. everything now in America. like the world building and neat things about Harry Potter? nah we are changing that. remember muggles? nah its now nomages.

its like wanting cocacola and getting RCcola

reply

If it bombs at the box office, it'll be because the first two movies sucked.
