...the critics and columnists wouldn't feel as compelled to defend this film and give it positive reviews. It would still get generally good notices, but they'd be less zealous and less hyped than they are at present, because critics wouldn't feel so compelled to make a point against the regressive right.

You right-wing assholes are your own worst enemies.

Then again, I think you want a cultural war. You thrive on this negative bullshit.

The culture war has been going on already for a number of years. It just keeps getting worse because people keep perpetuating it, mainly celebrities like Brie Larson.

So SJW have learned that they dont matter? Thats fine.

The box office at the states was 150 million. They estimated 180 million when the first trailer appeared. Also 150 million is within the average rate for opening of MCU movies. So no, there isnt any above average commercial success.

And critical success? The critics gave it 79% . Thats at the bottom of most MCU movies ever released. So you have to live with the fact, that Captain Marvel is at best average.

And which critics? The ones which fascist idiots like you called white supremacistss? And now you are wondering why noone gave this movie a high rating?

The vast majority of people don't pay attention to these online debates and attacks. I think the box office shows that. People don't care, outside message boards and the news media.

The same people who criticized men for giving this film less than a 7.0 average on IMDb are the same people who aren't complaining about women giving it an average of 8.0. I just checked the breakdown of the scores :

10 - 19.2%
9 - 9.8%
8 - 20.1%
7 - 20.0%
6 - 9.0%
5 - 3.8%
4- 2.2%
3 - 1.8%
2 - 2.3%
1 - 11.9%

If anything, I don't think the "trolls" against the movie did it enough considering how low the percent is from 2 stars to 5. The fact that 50% of the people gave it an 8 or higher, should be criticized just as much as the people giving it 1's. Why is giving it a 1 bad, but not a 10? Not saying you are saying that, just the people who are angry at the trolls, but okay with the people giving it high scores.
