What happens to the film industry when they stop making these?

First - I enjoyed this the first time I saw it in the cinema and I think I enjoyed it a little bit more watching a 2nd time at home - so I like the film.
Having said that it occurred to me, as I watch the ridiculously long credits run, that when/if they stop making these really big productions then a lot of support companies will become redundant and there might be a serious hit on the amount of money in the film industry. Just a melancholy thought to put out there when quite a few posters wish for the end of these franchises.

Superhero films? Well, they'll find a new cash cow to foot the bills. Don't expect them to go back to original films. Perhaps we'll see more video game movies.

If you mean Marvel movies specifically, then these companies can go work on other big blockbuster films. If you mean the death of blockbusters, it seems unlikely that day will ever arrive, especially when these kinds of films are basically keeping the theater industry alive.

If theaters ever do go away though, it's possible that we could see a reduction in these kinds of films both in number and in scale. If that happens, well, I guess like we've seen with a lot of other industries that have been forced to change, we'll see a lot of companies go out of business and a lot of employees have to find something other kind of work to do.
