Captain Marvel steps up to be an intuitive and effective leader in her latest Marvel Comics issue, proving that she should lead the MCU's Avengers.
Haven't read the comics in years, but the MCU version I could see leading a new Avengers team. Hopefully they will still have some older members the next film not all new people.

The movies have established her as someone who's covering a lot of planets, and they actually need to. They've actually made her too powerful to fit into the universe they've created, where all the heroes and bad guys have limits on their power. Movies are no fun unless the hero has to struggle to overcome the villain, in ways an ordinary person can empathize with, and if you evenly matched CM with an equally powered villain, then it'd be a case of two characters with planet-smashing capabilities smashing it out, while everyone on Earth cowered and prayed for them to just stop fighting before they destroy the Earth with a wild shot.
