So Bad It's Good type of sci-fi film?

Does anyone who has seen this compare it to something like Space Mutiny, Manos: The Hands of Fate, or even Parts: The Clonus Horror?

reply

I think its more competently made, at least as far as the production values go.

No, it's not THAT bad, but the writing and character development is painfully lacking.

We already know Keanu is a Keanu no matter what movie he's in (even the much better "A Scanner Darkly") but he's not the reason the movie falls short. Most of that rides on the Sci-Fi premise of reanimation and the awkward juxtaposition of the super-technology featured in the lab both at work and at his home and the modern technology of social media and smart phones. Furthermore, such a technology would not be cradled by some private super secret start up without the Federal Government (who is non-existent in this film) being involved.

One of my biggest gripes with the premise is that it was setting up the reanimation/cloning technology as a danger to society, yet we saw none of that play out, not even with his own cloned family members.

there are plenty of super secret startups in Silicon Valley working on AI and brain uploads and life extension and robots. they are nowhere near as advanced as the company in the film, but they will get there eventually. I live here. my friends work at some of them.

reply

Ok, so they're nothing like the tech proposed in the film which was my point.

reply

this is historically bad.

the acting and direction and action are fine, but the plot holes and stupidity are so huge you can't see past them.
