Finale. So Elliott is... (spoilers)

Us?
We find that the Elliott we’ve been watching is just one of many personalities and that much of his experience is delusional. In the end, Darlene looks right at us and says, “Hello, Elliot.” Is that supposed to mean WE’RE Elliott?

reply

No. We're one of the personalities he had to leave in the theater.

reply

Hmmmm. Ok. I’ll have to rewatch to see how that played out.

reply

His experience is real. He did save the the world by assuming the hoodie Elliott personality.

reply

But hoodie Elliott is just a figment of "good" Elliot's imagination. That would mean Darlene doesn't exist either.

reply

No, he's his alter ego.

reply

No. His name really was Elliot. The final shot of Darlene looking at the camera was her talking to the real Elliot. We are looking through Elliot's eyes.

The whole series was about his alter The Mastermind (hoodie Elliot). Mr. Robot was the alter that The Mastermind ( representing Elliot's rage) created to protect his (The Mastermind) mind.

We never see the core personality because The Mastermind took over his mind and created a world of happy memories to keep the real Elliot there.
