(Spoilers) Key Season 1 Question (Potential Plot Hole)

Towards the end of Season 1, it was revealed that Mr Robot, the dad of Elliot (or Edward Alderson) was a figment of Elliot's imagination (i.e. either he was schizophrenic or having split personality disorder), since Edward had died several years ago (when Elliot was much younger).

Isn't this a major plot hole because if we were to re-watch the earlier episodes of Season 1 again, even if we ignore the scenes whereby the father and son were alone together, there were several scenes whereby CLEARLY Mr Robot (the dad) was not just with Elliot, but also together with other members of FSociety? For example, there was one scene when one member told Mr Robot he wanted to quit as he had no faith in Elliot, then how both helped him mitigate from his drug addiction, and how Mr Robot and other members in their van remotely directed Elliot to enter a higher secured building, etc.? There was also another scene depicting Mr Robot entering the car of Tyrell Wellick and had a conversation with him. And several more. How do we explain these?

Mr. Robot is Elliot so you're just seeing Elliot having conversations with people. If they're talking about him as if he's not there, just assume it's his brain trying to keep the illusion going and protecting him from the truth. No different than in Fight Club, honestly.

I see. While this makes sense for many parts of it (e.g. he pushed himself down while being seated on the railings), let's perhaps just zoom into one specific episode whereby his dad and other members were in a van remotely directing him what to do upon entering a highly secured building. How can his physically body be in the van, then toggling to be in the building at the next second, and so on? Unless we are attributing it to he was only in the building and there was no one in the van. But this also doesn't make sense because clearly other members were communicating to the "dad" in the van too.

I think if you go back and watch it you'll see they are never communicating with both Elliot and Mr. Robot at the same time. Obviously the point of having Mr. Robot in the van is to keep the illusion that he's a real person for the audience, but from Elliot's perspective he's in the van because that's where he believes him to be.
