This whole movie a la ( another spoiler!) Carnival of Souls... is just her hallucination as she drowns in the opening has just happened car crash.. no?

OK.. a spoiler laden review on Amazon says no.. that the whole movie existed in a world that had been flooded out years before and she is choosing to live by getting out of the car she is drowning in?

I didn't understand either. She actually was dead, and this was the afterlife?

Well allegedly this is backwards from what other people who seem to GET this more than I do said-- the whole story was the MOMENT the car goes off the road INTO that reservoir ... that THAT is reality... the whole ravine/house/village/dude/ etc was all something that happened at the brink of death--- yet though the bro is dead.. she decides to LIVE and crawl out of the car and NOT drown.. ::hmm:: ...

Since he dies in the " Life" she lead at the homestead a bit with the dead guy who stayed with his brother when the floods came-- I am presuming he drowned in the car.
